This occurs on Adobe Acrobat version 5.0, and it is caused by an Acrobat "feature".
1. Open Adobe Acrobat Reader 5
2. Sselect Edit | Preferences | Options.
3. Disable the entry: "Allow fast web view".
4. Save the changes and reopen the web browser.
